Equipment Requirements
At Cold Hill Motocross, proper equipment is essential for safety, performance, and overall riding experience. Off-road racing involves unpredictable terrain, high speeds, and physical impact, making protective gear a non-negotiable requirement.
Before entering the track, all riders must meet our equipment standards. These requirements are in place to protect you and others while maintaining a safe riding environment for all skill levels.
Why Proper Gear Matters
Off-road motorsports—whether motocross, ATV riding, UTV racing, or buggy driving—expose riders to rough terrain, sudden obstacles, and varying conditions like mud, rocks, and uneven surfaces.
Wearing the correct gear helps:
- Reduce the risk of serious injury
- Improve rider confidence and control
- Provide protection during falls or collisions
- Ensure compliance with track safety standards
Riders without proper equipment will not be allowed to ride under any circumstances.
Required Safety Equipment
All riders must wear the following gear at all times while on the track:
Helmet (Mandatory)
A properly fitted helmet is the most critical piece of safety equipment.
- Must be securely fastened at all times
- Should be designed for off-road or motocross use
- Protects against head injuries during falls or collisions

Leather Boots
Durable riding boots provide essential protection for your feet and ankles.
- Must be sturdy and designed for riding
- Protect against impact, heat, and terrain hazards
- Help maintain stability and control while riding
Shin Guards
Shin guards protect the lower legs from debris, impact, and contact with the bike or terrain.
- Must be worn securely
- Essential for both beginner and advanced riders
- Help prevent common off-road injuries
Recommended (Optional) Gear
While not required, the following gear is strongly recommended for added safety and performance:
- Gloves for grip and hand protection
- Chest protectors for upper body safety
- Goggles for visibility and eye protection
- Knee pads for additional joint protection
- Riding jerseys and pants designed for motocross
Using additional protective gear can significantly reduce injury risk and improve your overall riding experience.
Vehicle Readiness & Equipment
In addition to personal gear, riders are responsible for ensuring their vehicles are safe and track-ready.
Vehicle Requirements
- Properly functioning brakes
- Secure throttle control
- No fluid leaks
- Tires in good condition
General Guidelines
- Perform a basic inspection before riding

Equipment Compliance & Inspection
Cold Hill Motocross may perform visual checks to ensure all riders meet equipment standards before entering the track.
Riders who do not meet requirements:
- Will be asked to correct the issue before riding
- May be denied access if non-compliant
These checks help maintain a safe and consistent environment for everyone.
